A Gecko for Alex

16 x 20 - Oil on Canvas - Private Collection (Kelowna, B.C.)

The story behind the work:
Alex is my seventeen year old Grandson, an amazing young man, who, when he was twelve,  we took him with us on a ministry trip to Hawaii.  Alex and Jan were able to vacation while I taught at the YWAM base in Kona.  Highlights for Alex were snow cones, body surfing at Hapuna Beach, Cokes with a side of lime juice, Fries with everything, the Submarine ride, and the pool at the Hyatt, but overriding everything was catching ghecko's which he did non stop.  He had one in particular that he wanted to bring home as a pet, but we were able to talk him out of that!   This painting is in memory of the one that stayed in the Hawaiian Islands!
